Rack of lamb ribs and Workers Day

Pinnekjøtt
This the dinner of today. Lamb ribs, a Norwegian speciality, just as special as "lutefisk". It`s called "pinnekjøtt", meaning something like "stickmeat". It`s salted, sometimes smoked, dried out in fresh, cold air for several months, and then steamed in a pot, layed upon stiches from a white birch. The stiches are supposed to give the meat a special flavour. Then served with potatoes and mashed swedes (strange name).
It`s normally served around Christmas. But since I have made it all by myself (I`m very proud of it)I need most of the winther to dry the meat.

The other subject is that today is the 1. of may, the Workers Day. And for the first time I didn`t participate. Just being occupied with cooking.
I have enjoyed to sing international workers songs, and hearing speeches from the towns communists and socialists.
I guess I`m getting lazy. Staying home with food and family.
But I did hum to one of the songs...
