Cold, indeed...

This is a cross section of the day.
And it starts very cold.
In our town Vadsø it is minus 20 debrees Celcius now. And a heavy wind makes the effecive temperature around minus 40.

Arctic Norway is actually not so cold as the rest of the Arctic world. Thanks to warm winds and warm sea from the Mexican Gulf.
So there`s no icebergs in the sea around here. But right now the sea gets frozen in the bays.

The lights of the city make no help.
Not even the returning of the sun.
King Winther has made his revenge. So far.

But most people is happy about whats worth getting happy about.
Like a small sun-concert. Made by the local stringquintet Ensemble North. Who played Webern and Schumann.

Making the audience defrozen at the library.
Coming home we put up a fire in the stove. And did about nothing for the rest of the day.
Have a nice weekend!

Sun party

-The sun! The sun is here!
The message made the children in the school class almost crazy. They rushed out of the classroom and out to the stairs.
And there she was. After two months of darkness. Now she made some extra light on the tired school buildings.

it was time for party. Sun party. To sing the sun-song. To drink yellow limonade. To eat sun-wheat-buns.

And to make an extra nice sun to keep in the classroom.
One of the children described the feeling of the day in the best way;
-It makes me live again, he said. And drank some more sun-limonade.

The Northern Light is calling

We had a very lazy Sunday. Computer and tv. Lying on the sofa. Nice. But not so enlightening.
Paid someone a visit later on. For coffee. And finally we discovered that there were more to discover.
Like the Aurora Borealis. The Northern light.
A strange phenomena of dancing, green light caused by explosions on the sun, making electricity and a light mostly seen around the poles of the world.

This light was dancing a kind of rumba. And some barren plants tried to follow as best as they could.
The moon, the stars and the dark fjord was just calmly observing it all.
