Skiing into darkness

I went into the darkness this afternoon. Skiing into the mountain plateau.
My son made some ski-exercise further down. He`s 15, running competition now.
We have been so much together on the mountain. From when he was a baby, lying in the small sledge, until he was struggling to the closest skicabin in too warm clothes. And until one important day.
Some years ago we were supposed to have a trip together. He started skating.
I was thinking;
-What the....
i tried to follow. Tried to skate myself. Came up beside a mother and her small child. One of my skis slided into the track. And my face was suddenly buried deep down in the snow.
My son was up at the cabin half an hour before me.

So maybe it`s better to start the season in darkness.
It`s special to be deep in the mountain in the dark. Special to meet other skiers with headlights. They are silent. And I can`t see who they are.
The full moon went up in east lightening the mountain. And back down my son passed me in a hurry...

She`s there, allright

For a while I thought she was gone for good.
After some months of absence. But then she turns up again. Sweeping over the mountains far away in the south.
And I am just sitting here, in the couch one Saturday morning, with my coffeecup, enjoying the reunion.
